The Information Technology and Digital Services is responsible for the development and implementation of the strategy and framework to ensure that learning & teaching staff, students and researchers at the University are aware of and get maximum benefit from digital technologies, infrastructure and learning & teaching and research tools and facilities available to the University.

Working under limited direction with a degree of autonomy, the Developer is responsible for providing high quality services to key stakeholders across the university. Driving good technology practices in software development, this role applies extensive general experience in software development practice to the platforms of supported products in the team, with a focus on continuous improvement in development practice for themselves and quality assurance of junior members of the team. 

To be successful you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience with web development using a framework such as Ruby on Rails / Symfony / Drupal
  • Demonstrated experience developing using Object Oriented design, Service Oriented Architecture and API design is highly regarded
  • Demonstrated experience with integrating systems through APIs is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated experience analysing existing application processes and designing and implementing improvements
  • Demonstrated experience with relational data modelling and SQL is highly desirable
  • Experience with JavaScript and frontend development desirable
