(HEO3) $62,494 to $70,860 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies.

Shift loading may apply with Overtime paid at penalty rates.

We are currently recruiting for 4 Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Nurses to join the Roseworthy Veterinary Hospital. This includes 2 continuing roles and 2 12-month fixed-term contracts.

Join a team of talented and dedicated veterinary nurses to provide high quality support to the clinical teaching veterinarians and practice clinicians in a state-of-the-art facility.

About the Role

As part of the Roseworthy Veterinary Hospital (RVH) professional services team, you will provide essential emergency and critical care support alongside general nursing duties. You will also mentor veterinary and veterinary technology students, offering an exceptional level of care and expertise in treating complex emergency and critical care cases, including anaesthetics. We are looking for individuals with experience in small animal emergency practice, specialty, or high-level general practice with emergency/after-hours exposure.

This role will involve working on a 24/7 shift roster, providing care in both general practice and our intensive care unit. You will have the opportunity to advance your skills in emergency care, critical care, and anaesthesia, with access to our specialist team and cutting-edge equipment.


About Roseworthy Veterinary Hospital

The Roseworthy Veterinary Hospital is a state-of-the-art clinical teaching facility located on the University’s picturesque Roseworthy Campus, just 9km from Gawler and near the Barossa Valley. We provide a range of veterinary services, including first opinion, ambulatory, specialist services, and 24/7 emergency and critical care. Our team of veterinarians, nurses, and support staff work closely with final-year veterinary students, offering them hands-on training under supervision.

We operate with a commitment to high standards of care and student learning, providing the latest technology, including advanced imaging equipment like CT, endoscopy, arthroscopy, and invasive blood pressure monitoring.

About You

You are an enthusiastic, team-oriented nurse with a passion for delivering the highest standards of service and care, you have proven experience as a qualified veterinary nurse in a 24/7 clinical setting. You can work in high pressure situations, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and are motivated to mentor the next generation of vets by imparting knowledge and modelling the highest standards of professional behaviour.


To be successful you will need:

  • 2 years minimum experience with focus on specialist, emergency or high-level general practice
  • Demonstrates capacity to work in a collaborative and dynamic hospital, while maintaining best practices and mentorship for students in a teaching hospital.
  • Attention to detail in administering treatments, record keeping and documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience and /or knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Demonstrates veterinary nursing experience with sound technical skills and knowledge in area of interest (surgery, ECC, IM, or GP).
  • Demonstrates a professional attitude when working with clients and other staff members

Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Office and Cornerstone would be an advantage.
