The Division of Academic and Student Engagement (DASE) partners with students, staff and the broader community to deliver an outstanding student experience. At the heart of the student experience are transformational opportunities in learning and teaching.

The Student Experience branch is responsible for providing services that deliver an excellent student experience. This includes administrative and support services to students as well as service to, and partnership with, academic staff in the development of a high-quality, engaging and relevant learning environment.

Employability, Careers and Student Academic Skills deliver initiatives that enable students to succeed in their academic studies and beyond. This includes curriculum embedded employability and co- and extra-curricular employability, work-integrated-learning and internships, support for graduate employment, career guidance and student academic skills initiatives.

The Internships Officer will coordinate and support the internship programs and initiatives. Working in a collaborative and proactive team, responsibilities include developing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, academics and hosts, understanding their needs, coordinating student recruitment processes from job scoping and advertising to shortlisting and enrolment and providing support to the Internships Team Leader. The Internships Officer contributes to a culture of continuous improvement and exceptional service delivery.

To be successful you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience in supporting internships or a structured student experience program, preferably in a higher education environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging with stakeholders, working consultatively and developing and maintaining relationships, to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively in a team environment to meet and exceed performance expectations.
  • Demonstrated experience in a student environment and a commitment to exceptional customer service, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, in a succinct, professional and responsive manner and develop key relationships with staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • High level administrative and organisational skills, including experience with systems, ability to work effectively under pressure and deliver across competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote the organisational values of integrity, respect, collegiality, excellence and discovery, and a commitment to positively comply with the associated behaviour expectations.
