Position description

This postdoctoral research position is funded under the partnership between MITRE Corporation and the Australian Institute for Machine Learning (AIML) at the University of Adelaide. This role offers the opportunity to carry out cutting-edge research at the intersection of computer vision, natural language processing, perception, reasoning, and autonomous systems. The successful candidate will work directly with Dr Feras Dayoub to publish high-impact research and develop innovative AI solutions.

The tasks of the postdoctoral researcher will include:

  • Conduct world-class research in multimodal perception and reasoning for autonomous systems.
  • Publish research findings in top-tier conferences and journals in AI, machine learning, and related fields.
  • Mentor junior researchers and PhD students working on related projects within the partnership.

Outputs will include:

  • A functional robotic system capable of performing complex tasks in dynamic environments, demonstrated through real-world deployments.
  • Periodic technical reports and presentations to AIML and MITRE documenting the developed algorithms and system performance

To be successful you will need:

1.   PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, or a related field.

2. Strong background in multimodal learning, robotic vision, or natural language processing.

3. Proven track record of research excellence, evidenced by publications in top-tier conferences or journals

 

Desirable characteristics:

  1. Experience in developing and deploying machine learning models in real-world settings.

Preference will be given to Australian citizens or permanent residents, or New Zealand citizens.
