Provide extensive project and administrative support.

The Tectonics and Earth Systems Group is a team of academics, researchers, PhD and Honours students that have a wide range of funded projects with the Australian Research Council as well as with other Federal and State/Territory government bodies and Industry. TES is led by Professor Alan Collins (Mawson Professor of Earth Sciences) who will start an Australian Research Council Laureate Fellowship in mid-2025 that will integrate many of the themes of plate tectonics in deep time and how it has led to the habitable, resource full planet that we have today.

The Project Manager will work closely with Professor Alan Collins and other members of TES to provide administrative and governance support to team members to facilitate delivery of the ARC Laureate project and other projects within TES. The Project Manager will facilitate, monitor and report on key deliverables, risks and budgets. The role will also liaise and work collaboratively with a range of both professional and academic staff from across the University, to coordinate timely and accurate information across the portfolio of research within the TES group.

Once the ARC Laureate project is established, it is expected that this role will also support TES staff, in growing engagement opportunities between University academics and academics from other Australian and international universities as well as with government and industry partners to build a TES Network that will internationalise the research team and develop towards a future Centre of Excellence, or other similar scheme.

To be successful you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience working across large interdisciplinary teams and building effective and constructive working relationships.
  • Demonstrated high-level verbal, written and interpersonal skills in a succinct, professional and responsive manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to project manage tasks and responsibilities using effective systems and tools that include systematic project management documentation and report writing in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Demonstrated experience monitoring and reviewing budgets and financial reports.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and self-efficacy with Microsoft Office and other software as required.
  • Highly diligent and detail-oriented reporting skills.
