The HSW Compliance Officer will undertake activities to assist the HSW Advisory team to deliver a service that supports the University HSW framework to meet legislative responsibilities

The HSW portfolio is responsible for establishing a Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Framework for the University that meets legislative requirements and Return To Work SA Performance Standards.  The portfolio includes policy & procedure, advisory services, training related to procedures, monitoring and internal audit, injury management, workers compensation, wellbeing, external regulator liaison, and reporting.

Working under general direction, the Compliance Officer will undertake HSW activities which will assist the HSW Team to maintain the HSW framework, ensuring the University meets legislative responsibilities and Self-Insurance Performance Standards. The role is responsible for assisting in developing strategies to prevent illness and injury, reducing risk, monitoring HSW performance, and enhancing communication, systems, and information exchange.

To be successful you will need: 

  • Demonstrated ability to promote the organisational values of integrity, respect, collegiality, excellence and discovery, and a commitment to positively comply with the associated behaviour expectations.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the WHS Act & Regulations and other related legislation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work systemically to improve safety outcomes.
  • Experience in the development of safety documentation and communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an attention to detail.
