Join the team dedicated to supporting world-class education and research in agriculture, animal health, and related sciences.

We are seeking a Senior Technical Officer to coordinate the Teaching Unit within the School of Animal and Veterinary Science based at our Roseworthy Campus.

This position is ideal for someone who is technically skilled, highly organised, and passionate about contributing to an environment that supports world-class education and research. You’ll thrive in a collaborative team that values innovation, professionalism, and a strong commitment to supporting agricultural and veterinary science education.

Based at our Roseworthy Campus, you will play a key role as Senior Technical Officer, supporting the delivery of hands-on teaching across a diverse range of disciplines including animal health, agriculture, and farming. Working under general direction, you will plan and coordinate the scheduling of practical classes, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently to support both students and academic staff.

In this role, you’ll take ownership of the preparation and delivery of practical teaching activities, including ordering consumables, maintaining laboratory and teaching equipment, and managing the team’s asset registers. You’ll work closely with academic staff to ensure practical sessions are well-organised and appropriately resourced, while maintaining accurate records of teaching infrastructure and ensuring all activities comply with Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) standards and legislative requirements.

To be successful you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience in agriculture, farming and animal health practice
  • Demonstrated experience in timetabling practical and coordinating teaching activities.
  • Proven track record of providing guidance to less experienced staff in a complex laboratory environment.
  • Knowledge of HSW and safety management with demonstrated experience in application of these in a teaching environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and coordinate individual and team work activities to achieve goals and meet deadlines in a complex environment.
