(Level C) $140,127 - $161,145 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies.

Continuing, full-time opportunity available immediately.

This position requires enthusiasm for, and interest in, applied research and undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across Human Geography.

The School of Social Sciences comprises five Departments: Anthropology and Development Studies; Asian Studies; Geography, Environment and Population, Politics and International Relations; and Sociology, Criminology and Gender Studies. Combining a vibrant and innovative teaching environment with a strong research culture, the School offers an intellectually stimulating environment in which to work.

To be successful you will need:

  • A PhD in Human Geography
  • Experience in the conduct of scholarly, applied and industry collaborative research projects and consultancies.
  • Significant teaching expertise in teaching and coordinating geography courses at an undergraduate and postgraduate level, supported through Student Evaluation of Learning and Teaching surveys or other evidence of teaching excellence.
  • Technical competence in the instruction of students in GIS systems
  • Experience in designing and delivering new courses in Human Geography
  • Ability to administer, develop and promote new Geography programs.
  • Demonstrated track record as a successful team player in the areas of administration, research, and teaching.
  • Demonstrated delivery of innovative teaching and learning methods (including blended learning) and incorporating the evaluation of learning outcomes.
  • A record of high-quality research outputs, relative to opportunity, in FoR code 1604 Human Geography (i.e. specifically in the fields of Human Geography), including publications in high quality outlets.
  • Success in the supervision of Honours, internship, Masters or PhD students.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with staff and students.
