This is a fantastic opportunity be part of the Defence Trailblazer for Concept to Sovereign Capability - a collaborative partnership between the University of Adelaide and UNSW.

 

The Defence Trailblazer for Concept to Sovereign Capability was awarded to the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and the University of Adelaide (UoA) and is one of six Trailblazer Universities Program grants awarded by the Department of Education.

The Trailblazer Universities Program aims to boost research and development and drive commercialisation outcomes with industry over the four years to 2025-26. The Defence Trailblazer will drive collaboration between Australian universities and businesses to deliver products to support the Australian Defence Force and Australia’s trusted allies, by:

  • Accelerating defence capabilities in manufacturing robotics, information warfare, autonomous systems and artificial intelligence.
  • Funding and building capability in small and medium size enterprises to remove our reliance on offshore businesses.
  • Equip the defence sector with the graduates and researchers needed to generate and develop new ideas for our defence.
  • Generate investments in facilities to support key technologies, including large format 3D additive manufacturing for hypersonic. applications, prototyping for ultra-precision optics and quantum sensing devices, and testing facilities for autonomous systems.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Support Officer to provide ongoing operational project support. This will include facilitating/supporting project planning and working groups, providing assistance to complete outstanding project tasks, coordinating meetings with internal and external stakeholders, providing advice to the Defence Trailblazer Executive Team and key stakeholders, providing administrative support and maintaining project documentation. The role will work with the Stream 2 Project Manager and DTB Executive to implement efficient and effective project and stream reporting.

 

To be successful you will need:

  • Proven experience in providing high quality project support and coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and manage multiple competing priorities within Projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills that demonstrate the ability to relate to a wide range of stakeholders and staff at all levels.
  • Experience in supporting Working Groups / Stakeholder Groups, with a demonstrated ability to take responsibility for progressing action items.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritise a competing workload.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote the organisational values of integrity, respect, collegiality, excellence and discovery, and a commitment to positively comply with the associated behaviour expectations.

 

Some interstate travel throughout the duration of tenure may be required.

Qualification/s:

  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training.
  • The successful candidate may be required to hold or attain an Australian government security clearance.
