Are you a leader passionate about supporting world-class biomedical research? The University of Adelaide is seeking a Team Leader for our Core Rodent Breeding Facility, a vital part of our Laboratory Animal Services (LAS) team. This is your chance to lead a dedicated team and contribute to ground-breaking research in a supportive and dynamic environment.

The Team Leader, Core Rodent Breeding Facility, will lead a small team, liaising with all research groups, delivering outstanding technical support, and ensuring breeding colony management adheres to ethically approved projects. In addition, the Team Leader will set up and coordinate rederivation of rodent lines into the breeding facility including IVF procedures and cryopreservation where appropriate.

The Team Leader will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Core Rodent Breeding Facility including the establishment of facilities and services. In addition, the Team Leader will undertake compliance activities such as audits, inspections, quality assurance programs and coordinating facility and equipment maintenance with contractors to ensure the facility meets requirements of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.

Overseeing the tasks of technicians to ensure compliance with researchers’ specifications and the breeding colony size and strategies are a major part of this role, as well as leading a team of technicians makes this role unique as it requires someone who has both the technical and leadership experience.

The Division of Research and Innovation provides leadership in achieving the University’s strategic goals, particularly in relation to research strategy, researcher education, services, infrastructure and supporting the development of world-class research and impact, both nationally and internationally. Supporting an ethos of excellence, innovation, engagement and impact, the Division is responsible for achieving the research objectives set out in the University Strategic Plan.
