(HE05) $77,409 to $86,072 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies.

Fixed term, full time position available for 12 months.

JBI is a global research institute based in the Faculty of Health & Medical Sciences at the University of Adelaide, that promotes and supports evidence-based decisions that improve health and health service delivery.

The role of the Research Grants and Development Office is to increase JBI’s research performance and profile by partnering with researchers, research teams, senior leaders and professional services teams to secure competitive national and international research funding, increase the level and diversity of research funding and facilitate excellent research outcomes by delivering researcher development strategies.

The Office will lead the development, submission and management of all competitive research grant funding, including National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) and other local and international schemes from government, philanthropic and industry sources. The team works with researchers to provide advisory and administrative support throughout the entire lifecycle of a grant, as well as providing research assistance to support strategic projects.

Working under direction of the Strategic Research and Development Manager, the Research Officer will support the implementation and evaluation of all institute-wide research development initiatives. The incumbent will manage reporting requirements, the team inbox, data, support compliance checking at peak periods, respond to general researcher queries, manage funding opportunities via internal systems, support post-award management, and help streamline processes and procedures for the team.

To be successful you will need: 

  • Knowledge of the University sector, funding of research and of related structures and processes in a research-oriented field.
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of administrative, research, grant and project support services including a high level of competence in the coordination of committees and workshops.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying and analysing information and issues to support the development of practical solutions and recommendations for effective client outcomes and the implementation of research grant projects and programs.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating, both verbally and in writing, in a succinct, professional and responsive manner to deliver client centric results.
  • Demonstrated experience setting and meeting deadlines, monitoring and reviewing standard systems and applying well developed interpersonal skills to promote a positive team environment.
