Fixed term, part-time (0.6FTE) opportunity available for 12 months.

The Receiving Editor/Editor is a key position for the international scientific periodical JBI Evidence Synthesis that is focused on managing and monitoring manuscript workflow for a monthly online publication. JBI Evidence Synthesis publishes research content to support healthcare practice and policy worldwide.

This role is within the dynamic Editorial Office of JBI Evidence Synthesis in JBI at The University. JBI is an international research and development agency with more than 45 staff in its headquarters in Adelaide and more than 2000 researchers located in Collaborating Entities around the world. With almost 85 Collaborating Centres and Groups, JBI is a recognised global leader in evidence-based healthcare.

The Receiving Editor will review submitted manuscripts for alignment to the scope of the journal and adherence to submission guidelines. The role will assess submissions for scientific conduct and reporting and JBI methodologies of synthesis, as well as assign manuscripts to appropriate peer reviewers and editors. The successful applicant will also liaise with international authors and external stakeholders, maintain and update journal database records, and facilitate administration of the journal Editorial Board.

To be successful you will need:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of systematic reviews and evidence syntheses
  • Understanding of academic journal publishing process
  • Track record of peer review for scientific journals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English language
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
