As Team Leader, you’ll lead a skilled team, collaborating with research groups to provide exceptional technical support. Your leadership will ensure all experimental activities align with ethical standards, enabling ground-breaking research.
With the support of the Branch Manager of Laboratory Animal Services, you’ll shape services that meet the needs of both the University’s research community and external clients, driving innovation and fostering meaningful partnerships.

About the Role:
- Lead and manage a team of animal care technicians, providing guidance and support for professional development.
- Ensure compliance with ethically approved research protocols and quality assurance standards.
- Build collaborative relationships with researchers, supporting their objectives through outstanding technical services.
- Promote and implement health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives across the team.
- Deliver technical training workshops and design improved operating procedures.
Selection criteria (to address in application)
- Significant experience working in a biomedical research environment.
- Proven interpersonal and liaison skills in building constructive relationships with clients and stakeholders within and external to the University.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully lead a small team.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of compliance and quality issues impacting on a biomedical research environment.
- Experience in HS&W compliance and compliance systems, e.g. RMSS system.
- Demonstrated ability to work with software and/or similar software eg. PeopleSoft; Research Master etc.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply policies, rules and procedures.
- Proven oral and written communication skills, including the ability to produce high quality written documents and reports.
