(HE07) $95,017 - $106,270 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies.

Are you experienced in research contracting and project establishment?   We have a fixed term opportunity until September 2024 for a Contract Manager to join our collaborative Research Services team.

Research Services provides professional staff support services to the University's Research community in relation to research funding opportunities, research administration, research ethics, compliance and integrity management, post award research management, research related reporting and general and strategic advice to researchers and research leaders.

The Contract Manager is accountable for high quality research contracting and project initiation services designed to streamline administration and ensure high quality, rigorous contracting in relation to research activity at the University of Adelaide.

You will be responsible for: negotiating and establishing research funding agreements and other associated contracts; ensuring timely commencement of research activities; liaising with research funders and collaborators, Faculties, Schools, Institutes, Affiliates and research funding applicants and coordinating services with Research Development, Business Development, Commercialisation, Finance, Legal and Risk, Adelaide Graduate Research School and other areas of central university administration.

Working under limited direction with a degree of autonomy, you will exercise a high level of independence, mature judgement and liaise directly with University senior officers and external parties.

You will also be expected to contribute to the development of strategies and systems primarily in relation to enhancing research contracting and project initiation/establishment. You will provide advice, guidance and mentoring to junior staff on relevant matters and you may also be called upon to provide support for other research administrative processes during peak periods.

To be successful you will need:

  • Detailed knowledge of the University sector, funding of research and of related structures and processes in a research-oriented field.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high quality advice to staff on research contracting issues, including broader project initiation considerations and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated high-level interpersonal and written communication skills (including the ability to prepare correspondence for internal and external audiences, and briefing papers for management).
  • Excellent organisational skills with the demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks, plan actions and work well to tight (externally imposed) deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability in the effective use of computer applications (MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint), internet browsers, and information systems.
