Fixed term, full-time position available for two years.
The Postdoctoral Fellow will undertake collaborative and self-directed research on an ARC-funded Linkage project, in collaboration with the industrial partner Safran Electronics & Defense Australasia.
The ideal applicant will have an outstanding background in machine learning and computer vision, with experience particularly in sensor fusion, reinforcement learning and the domain gap problem. The successful candidate will contribute to research in continuous collaborative learning for the purpose of detection, recognition, identification, and localisation (DRIL) in the maritime environment, and combining machine learning methods with heuristic optimisation. The results will be applied to demonstrate continuous collaborative in dynamic maritime environments to improve DRIL capabilities, with an aim to deliver a high quality maritime situational awareness solution.
To be successful you will need:
- PhD degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or a closely related field (preferred expertise in machine learning and computer vision).
- Strong background in machine learning and computer vision, particularly in sensor fusion, reinforcement learning and the domain gap problem.
- Fundamental knowledge or research experience in combinatorial optimisation and control systems.
- Strong programming experience, preferably with Matlab, C++, and machine learning frameworks (Python, TensorFlow, etc.).
- A high level of analytical and problem-solving skills, as demonstrated through the ability to perform independent research and deliver high quality research outcomes in a timely manner.
