The University of Adelaide Enterprise Agreement 2017-2021 will apply to a successful candidate’s employment at the University.  The University recently applied for a temporary variation to its Enterprise Agreement.  Please be advised that the salary range, along with other conditions associated with this position, may change in accordance with the variation to the Enterprise Agreement.

The Role

As Director Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) for the University of Adelaide you will lead the University’s newly formed CPE Unit 'PACE' (Professional and Continuing Education), encompassing the University’s Executive Education, Open Programs, Short Courses, Micro-Credentialing and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) product portfolios.

This is a high profile, strategic and hands-on senior leadership position that will play a central role in shaping and leading transformational strategies that will increase the University’s non-school leaver student population, provide consumer focused, flexible continuous life-long learning delivery that responds directly to industry, government and global skills trends as well as the and the provision of high-quality custom and open-enrolment executive programs across sectors, locally, nationally and globally.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Education Transformation in the office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President Academic, the role is responsible for developing and leading a highly competitive, scalable and market relevant CPE product portfolio that will attract new cohorts of students to the University, and meet the continuous learning and executive development demands of industry, government and individual learners locally, nationally and globally.

About you

You are passionate about continuous professional education and you are acutely aware of the global challenges being faced by large to medium employers in establishing and maintaining a skilled workforce that responds to shifting global workforce leadership and core skill demands. You have demonstrated experience in developing and executing competitive CPE product portfolio’s that respond to and predict future leadership and industry centric continuous learning demands across various sectors. To complement this experience you maintain a broad senior level network across various industries and government sectors.

You have a honed strategic outlook that enables you to identify and precisely respond to CPE opportunities locally and abroad, combined with outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills. You have a unique balance of creativity and commercial acumen that enables you to bring ideas, and the enthusiasm and demonstrated experience to lead the design and delivery of highly relevant, engaging and flexible executive education and CPD products from concept to delivery.

You are an entrepreneurial individual with strong business acumen, exceptional conceptual and analytical skills and a track record in pitching, promoting and delivering customised executive education and professional and continuing education programs to domestic and international markets. You are highly experienced in developing and nurturing fruitful, long-term strategic relationships at senior executive levels across industry sectors locally and globally.  You are comfortable consulting with executives at the highest level to build scale and sustainability across diverse CPE product portfolios, whilst creating opportunities that support growth, engage interest and establish long term partnerships.

To be successful you will need:

  • Extensive experience and skills in strategic and business planning and leadership of significant commercial opportunities and associated project budgets as well as developing, leading and sustaining innovation and sustainable commercial operations and partnerships in both the higher education and private sector/s.
  • Extensive experience in effectively collaborating with senior academics, Government and industry bodies in developing an understanding of customised and broad ranging educational programs, products and services that will meet the life-long learning needs of the diverse markets of the University.
  • Demonstrated ability in project management; being adaptable and able to respond to emerging and competing priorities and extensive experience in successfully leading change initiatives.
