Join a dedicated team delivering high quality production animal clinical services across all large animal species

Supporting a team of veterinarians, the Production Animal Technical Officer provides a diverse range of support services from assisting veterinarians in the field, to animal handling, care and support in clinic to administrative duties including client communication, appointment scheduling and routine financial transactions.

Working in a well-equipped University teaching clinic, you will have access to a range of modern equipment and fully equipped vehicles for on farm work. You will provide a range of high-quality administration and support services to the team of production animal veterinary clinicians, and will assist them in delivering clinical services to the local community and the clinical teaching of final-year students involved in clinical case management. The work is genuinely mixed across all production animal species with a focus on dairy cattle, sheep and alpacas.

The position will suit someone with experience and skills in large animal handling. Veterinary nursing experience/qualifications and/or administrative experience in veterinary practice or a similar environment would be an advantage.

To be successful you will need: 

  • Experience and skills in handling large animals safely and effectively.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work independently but participate cooperatively in team activities.
  • Attention to detail in record keeping and documentation.
  • Experience or knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated experience and/or knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety in a relevant field.
