Fixed term, full-time position for four months

Use your Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) Engineer skills to help spearhead new research avenues within a mature project

Work alongside a team of experienced software developers and researchers from the Centre for Distributed and Intelligent Technologies (Modelling and Analysis) within the School of Computer Science to further the development of the System Execution Modelling project.

The System Execution Modelling project’s goal is to develop a tool that allows for the intuitive modelling and analysis of complex systems of systems deployed to a broad and diverse collection of hardware platforms.  This project has been developed with involvement from external groups, most notably the Defence Science and Technology Group.

Your task of designing a Field Programmable Gate Array accelerator for performing Fast Fourier Transform operations that interfaces with an external system through an ethernet connection will contribute to this mature research project.

To be successful you will need:

  • The ability to develop an FPGA design composed of IP Cores using Quartus Prime or equivalent software
  • Exposure to Software/Hardware co-design development processes
  • Experience with the design/implementation of projects involving signal processing and/or networking components
  • Demonstrated ability to meet objectives and estimate project time requirements
  • High level verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate design concepts with stakeholders
