Funded through the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), this role will offer you an exceptional opportunity to work closely with key industry and research participants of the Australian Solar Thermal Research Institute (ASTRI) and ARENA projects. This exciting opportunity will see you integrating concentrated solar thermal (CST) technology into existing thermo-chemical and high temperature mineral processing systems to reduce their carbon footprint. Successful candidates will also have the opportunity to collaborate with other leading local and international researchers.
Based in the Centre for Energy Technology at The University of Adelaide, you will work as part of a multi-institutional, interdisciplinary team to develop process models for CST and to use them to assess the technical and economic feasibility of these processes relative to other options. Your work will underpin the system-wide modelling and economic modelling work being undertaken by the ASTRI and ARENA funded projects. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with a dynamic team of academics and postgraduate students from wide-ranging disciplines, all with expertise in clean energy technologies. To be successful you will need:
- A PhD degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience in the modelling and economic analysis of thermo-chemical processes, concentrated solar thermal, or mineral processing.
- Experience and demonstrated competence in process simulation and in the development of mathematical models for physical systems.
- Demonstrated capacity to communicate research concepts to technical audiences/wide range of audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team, and interact effectively with colleagues and external collaborators.
