We are seeking a motivated and talented academic to join our team in the field of Animal and Veterinary Sciences. The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality teaching and research in areas of animal immunology, microbiology, or virology, and will have the opportunity to collaborate across disciplines to address key challenges in animal health and disease.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective teaching in animal and veterinary sciences across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, and will contribute to the development and innovation of curriculum content in areas such as immunology, microbiology, or virology. The role will also involve conducting and publishing high-quality research in recognised international journals, actively seeking competitive research funding (including Category 1 grants), and supervising Honours and postgraduate research students. They will work collaboratively with academic and industry partners across a range of disciplines to enhance both research and teaching outcomes.

The ideal applicant will have a record of publication in high-quality international journals or conference proceedings, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of teaching and research teams. Skills in molecular biology, cell culture, and ELISA techniques are desirable, as is experience supervising research students and a proven record of success in securing competitive research funding.

This position offers an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to develop an independent research profile while engaging with enthusiastic students in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs.


To be successful you will need:

  • PhD in Animal Science, Veterinary Science or Science majoring in immunology and/or microbiology or virology.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of animal immunology, and either microbiology or virology.
  • Demonstrated ability in undergraduate teaching.
  • Ability to contribute to the development and conduct of high-quality research and teaching in animal and veterinary sciences
  • Ability to work collaboratively with researchers from different disciplinary backgrounds in the development of funding applications and implementation of research projects
  • Record of publication in high quality international scientific journals or conference papers.
