We are seeking an exceptional academic leader to join the Faculty of Medicine as Director, Medical Education, at a pivotal time of transformation and renewal as we launch Adelaide University in January 2026.

Level E ($215,774) pro rata at 0.7 FTE salary per annum plus an employer contribution 17% superannuation.

The Adelaide Medical School, within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences is going through an exciting transformation with a new strategic vision to further enhance its delivery of South Australia’s leading medical program. A world leader in health education and research and continues to transform the future through world-leading health and medical science education and research.

Conveniently located in the heart of Adelaide’s BioMed City precinct adjacent to the Royal Adelaide Hospital and South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI), our campuses have been home to 5 Nobel Prize winners, hundreds of Rhodes and Fulbright scholars, countless political leaders, in Australia and abroad, and we welcome many thousands of students who will become influencers in their chosen careers, countries and communities.

This is a rare opportunity to work closely with the current Director ahead of his retirement. Over a 16-month handover period, you will gain valuable institutional insight and play a critical role in shaping the future of medical education at Adelaide Medical School.

As the Director, you will be instrumental in the final transition from the Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) to the new Bachelor of Medical Studies/Doctor of Medicine (BMD) program. This is a crucial phase in the School’s evolution, and your leadership will help ensure its success. Responsible for leading the above transformation as well as the development, management and delivery of high-quality education across the medical programs delivered by the Adelaide Medical School. This includes managing a range of activities and processes related to continuous curriculum review and renewal, course design and integration, curriculum delivery, assessment, quality assurance and curriculum mapping.

To be successful in this role you will have demonstrated academic excellence, a proven ability to establish outstanding working relationships with colleagues and students and demonstrated experience in clinical medicine.

This position requires a valid Working with Children Check.
