Opportunity for driven Postdoctoral Researchers to join SAiGENCI in two exciting new positions looking at the role of the immune system in cancer.
SAiGENCI is an independent cancer-focused medical research institute located in South Australia; focusing on cancer research and linking to clinical trials, which include new cutting-edge technologies in immunotherapies and genomics.
The projects undertaken in the Tumour Inflammation and Immunotherapy Program at SAiGENCI combine molecular biological and genetic approaches, together with human translational studies, to identify the mechanisms by which uncontrolled activation of key regulators of the immune system, lead to inflammation-associated cancers of the stomach, lung and pancreas. In addition, our studies employ state-of-the-art biomaterials and nanotechnology-based approaches to modulate the immune system and create enhanced translational immunotherapy strategies in cancer.
To be successful you will need:
- Laboratory experience in a wide range of standard molecular and cell biology techniques, including mammalian cell culture, nucleic acid isolation, and DNA / RNA / protein extraction and analyses.
- Proven ability to work with complex model systems both in vitro and in vivo.
- Evidence of contribution towards research relevant to the field of study/interest, such as publications, conference presentations, seminars, reports or professional or technical contributions.
- Ability to provide advice, support and supervise Higher Degree by Research students.
- Experience in collaborating locally and nationally in the interest of enhancing research outcomes.
- Ability to rapidly learn new techniques and to tackle experimental bottlenecks creatively.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and good understanding of basic statistics.
