Continuing, full-time position available immediately for a Category Manager – Information Technology

Exciting opportunity supporting the Information Technology portfolio as part of our strategic procurement Team.

Our Strategic Procurement team provide leadership and procurement management across a range of specialist areas, partnering with stakeholders across the University. In this role you will promote continuous improvement through consideration of risk, variety, quantity, supplier base, price, total cost, quality, and stakeholder experience.

Your strengths will include a continuous improvement mindset and excellent stakeholder engagement skills. Your extensive procurement experience will showcase your capability to create and implement comprehensive and integrated strategic procurement processes, and review contractual agreements while ensuring suppliers are fully accountable in providing services for the University.

To be successful you will need: 

  • Extensive commercial experience with a substantial involvement in the procurement process, including exposure to professions aligned to specific categories, contracts and supplies.
  • Experience with tender processes and broad understanding of contract management issues ideally relating to Category Management.
  • Experience in Category Management with the ability to successfully develop procurement strategies, policies, processes, guidelines and pricing, cost analysis, and the implementation of same with performance monitoring, commodity and contract management reviews as part of a Category Management process and reporting.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, consultation and negotiation skills, including the ability to influence and liaise effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders in a way that encourages support and respect.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including effective presentations to stakeholders so as to secure support for proposed strategies.
