The School of Biological Sciences seeks to appoint a research leader (or emerging research leader) in biomedical biotechnology in the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology (SET). This is a teaching and research position and the appointee will ideally have experience in undergraduate/postgraduate learning and teaching. They will be expected to establish and maintain a dynamic research program in biomedical biotechnology with links to industry, and contribute to transdisciplinary research within the School of Biological Sciences and wider academic community. They will introduce innovative approaches to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
The position may require travel to China for teaching as part of the Haide College (the University of Adelaide’s Joint Education Institution based in Qingdao, China, in partnership with Ocean University of China) program.

To be successful you will need:
Level B
- A PhD in Biological Sciences with a focus on biomedical biotechnology.
- A demonstrated track record of research excellence in applied biomedical biotechnology, as evidenced by publications in highly regarded peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- Ability to lead an independent research program with links to the national and/or international biotechnology industry.
- Success in obtaining external peer reviewed funding relative to opportunity.
- Some teaching experience in biotechnology courses at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.
- Exemplary personal qualities fully aligned with our institutional values of integrity, respect, collegiality, excellence and discovery.
Level C
- A PhD in Biological Sciences with a focus on biomedical biotechnology.
- A demonstrated track record of research excellence in applied biomedical biotechnology, as evidenced by a sustained publication record in high impact peer-reviewed journals and/or significant commercialisation experience.
- Demonstrated ability to lead an independent research program and have established links with the national or international biotechnology industry.
- Success in obtaining external peer reviewed funding as a first named investigator.
- Teaching experience in biotechnology courses at the undergraduate level and supervision of Honours, Masters and/or PhD level students to completion.
- Exemplary personal qualities fully aligned with our institutional values of integrity, respect, collegiality, excellence and discovery.
