Lecturer (Level B) $111,031 - $131,335 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies.

Full time, continuing position available immediately.

The School of Biological Sciences seeks to appoint an emerging research leader in Bioinformatics, with experience in undergraduate/postgraduate learning and teaching, to educate the next generation of a diverse range of biological researchers in bioinformatics. The successful candidate will have a strong research focus on metagenomics or genomics and is expected to establish and maintain a dynamic research program thereby contributing to interdisciplinary research within the School and wider academic community. The appointee will also be responsible for delivering bioinformatics and other teaching in the School.

The successful candidate may be required to undertake some travel to China for teaching as part of the Haide College (the University of Adelaide’s Joint Education Institution based in Qingdao, China, in partnership with Ocean University of China) program.

To be successful you will need:

  • A PhD in bioinformatics, or related biological/biomedical field with a focus on metagenomics or genomics. 
  • A demonstrated track record of research excellence in bioinformatics as evidenced by publications in highly regarded peer-reviewed scientific journals.
  • A demonstrated track record in securing research grant funding relative to opportunity.
  • Some teaching/workshop experience in bioinformatics in a variety of face-to-face and/or hybrid and online modes to actively engage and educate undergraduate and post graduate students to ensure student success across the disciplines of genetics, biochemistry, molecular biology or microbiology.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with excellent time management and an ability to work collaboratively as a member of an academic team.
