Lecturer/Senior Lecturer  in Electrical and Electronic Engineering

The University of Adelaide’s School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (EME) is in search of a strong and dedicated researcher and educator at the level of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in the Discipline of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. This is a continuing (tenure-track) academic role.

With a well-established research track record and strong passion for teaching, we are in search of an expert from a recognised specialisation, including, but not limited to:

  • Information Systems, Control, Autonomous Systems, and Computer Engineering: Information systems & science, communications, control and dynamics, robotics and automation, artificial intelligence engineering, internet-of-things, cyber-physical systems, and computer engineering and systems - hardware/software integration.
  • Communication Engineering: applied electromagnetics, microwave/terahertz/optical systems, antenna design and modelling, wave propagation, and advanced measurement and sensing.
  • Power, Energy, and Sustainability: electric power, energy, sustainability, renewable technologies, energy science and engineering, thermoelectricity, sustainable future technologies, and materials for energy.
  • Medical and Health Engineering: biomedical photonics, biomedical instrumentation, wearable technologies, biomedical integrated circuits and sensors, neural engineering, optogenetics, and medical machine learning.
  • Quantum Engineering: quantum materials, semiconductor and quantum engineering, photonics and integration, micro- and nano-engineering, nano/micro-electromechanical systems (NEMS/MEMS), optomechanics, and advanced nanoscale fabrication.

Lecturer (Level B, $111,031 - $131,335 per annum) plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies.

To be successful at Level B you will need:

  • PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or other related disciplines, with expertise in a recognised specialisation.
  • Demonstrated research ability that supports the School's research strengths.
  • Record of research achievements as evidenced by publications in high-quality journals or conference proceedings.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach effectively using evidence-based pedagogy that promotes student learning.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English with both students and staff. 
  • Ability to work as part of a team and assert a positive influence on School culture.
  • Ability to carry out administrative duties, as directed by the Head of School, effectively and efficiently. 
  • Commitment to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion, and ability to contribute to the diversity of the School community.

Senior Lecturer (Level C, $135,388 – $155,696 per annum) plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies. 

To be successful at Level C you will also need:

  • Substantial record of research achievements as evidenced by publications in high-quality journals or conference proceedings.
  • Demonstrated ability to win significant research funding. 
  • Substantial record of success in effective teaching using evidence-based pedagogy. that promotes student learning and efficiently manage course coordination duties
  • Record of successful curriculum development or pedagogical innovation. 
  • Demonstrated ability to attract and supervise postgraduate students. 
  • Demonstrated success in engaging with industry and external research organisations.
