Full Time | Continuing Position

The School of Biological Sciences in the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) seeks to appoint a Lecturer in biotechnology.  This is a teaching only position and the appointee will ideally have experience in undergraduate/postgraduate learning and teaching and with a commitment and passion to introduce innovative approaches to teaching and assessment.  The appointee will be expected to coordinate courses, design curriculum, and deliver teaching primarily to Masters level students in biotechnology (biomedical). They will work with other academic staff to deliver the program to a broad cohort of domestic and international students.

The successful candidate may be required to undertake some travel to China for teaching as part of the Haide College (the University of Adelaide’s Joint Education Institution based in Qingdao, China, in partnership with Ocean University of China) program.

To be successful you will need:

  • A PhD or equivalent degree in Biological Sciences with a focus on biotechnology.
  • Ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate and postgraduate level, using evidence-based pedagogy that promotes student engagement.
  • Ability to supervise and motivate Master’s level students including encouraging intellectual development and career aspirations.
  • A track record of research, relative to the career opportunity, in an area complementary to existing School strengths.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a professional and collegial manner, and to build rapport with all levels of academic and professional staff within a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Commitment to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • A willingness and ability to design and deliver intensive mode teaching offshore for two periods of up to three weeks each year if required.
