Build your research career at the School of Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials and contribute to a research program supporting Australia’s transition to a low carbon energy future

Funded through the newly established Future Fuels Cooperative Research Centre (CRC), this role will offer you an exceptional opportunity to work closely with key industry participants of the CRC and also to collaborate with other leading researchers within Australia.

Based in the Centre for Energy Technology at The University of Adelaide, you will work as part of a multi-institutional team to develop process models for low-carbon fuel production, using these to assess and compare the technical and economic feasibility of these processes. The work will underpin the system-wide modelling and economic modelling work being undertaken by the Future Fuels CRC, which is linked to the National Hydrogen Strategy Taskforce. In this role you will also have the opportunity to work closely with academics and postgraduate students from wide-ranging disciplines all with expertise in clean energy technologies.

The Future Fuels CRC reflects the vision of Australia’s gas and pipelines sector, focusing on the pivotal role that new fuels and the existing gas infrastructure will have to play in a low carbon economy. With a 7-year research program, the CRC is supported by the Commonwealth Government under the CRC program with additional cash and in-kind funding from industry and university participants.

To be successful you will need:

  • A PhD degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience in modelling and economic analysis of chemical processes.
  • Experience and demonstrated competence in process simulation and in the development of mathematical models for physical systems.
  • Well-developed skills in technical writing for high quality scientific journals and verbal communication skills in academia.
  • Ability to work in a team, interact effectively with colleagues and external collaborators.
