As Technician in the Infrastructure and Technical Services Team (I&TST), your role will be to deliver technical support and advice for teaching and research projects to students, academics and research staff in line with the strategic direction of the Faculty.
You will be required to develop, operate and troubleshoot specialist testing equipment in the Process & Controls Laboratories, and demonstrate the use of laboratory techniques and equipment to students and staff. You will also assist students in the design, manufacture, modifications and testing of final year student projects and research activities.
A strong emphasis is placed on positive teamwork, pro-active teaching support, accurate record keeping and effective time management and clear communication skills.
To be successful you will need:
- Demonstrated knowledge of Work Health and Safety management requirements relating to a laboratory environment that includes electronics.
- Experience in applying electrical / electronic solutions to manufacturing and maintenance of equipment.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills and initiative to learn new skills and processes.
- Knowledge of data acquisition systems and control systems.
- High level of computer literacy including intermediate programming skills, preferably using Arduino and or LabVIEW.
