The School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences is one of four schools in the Faculty of Sciences, located at the University's Roseworthy campus approximately 50 km north of Adelaide on a 1600 hectare property, less than eight kilometres from the township of Gawler. The campus includes a working farm, animal holding facilities, yards, sheds and a range of general purpose and specialist teaching and research spaces and laboratories. It is South Australia's only veterinary school and constitutes a team of leading animal and veterinary science academics. The school has a Veterinary Health Centre with four units that offer a range of first opinion, ambulatory and specialist veterinary care across all animal species to the general public and referring veterinarians and are used in its veterinary program.
We are seeking a Veterinarian, who is eligible to practice in South Australia to teach Dairy Cattle Medicine and Production, and develop a research program within this subject area. The successful candidate will contribute to the teaching of Dairy Cattle medicine and Production through the delivery, supervision and coordination of lectures, practical classes, clinical service, including farm visits and clinical rotations. Some participation in Production Animal-related clinical services is anticipated to support and maintain an appropriate clientele profile. Additional participation in the teaching and course coordination of production animal studies courses throughout the animal and veterinary science programs may be required. The supervision of post-graduate students will be expected.
Salary: Level B $94,135 - $111,788 or Level C $115,310 - $132,966 per annum.
Superannuation: An employer contribution of 17% may apply.
Term of position: This continuing position is available immediately at either Level B or C depending on skills and experience
To be successful you should have as a minimum:
- Qualification in Veterinary Science acceptable for registration in South Australia.
- Higher degree or relevant experience, preferably at doctorate level or equivalent, in dairy cattle medicine.
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of teaching and research teams.
- Potential to undertake research in the area of dairy cattle medicine
